Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has confirmed the hire of a six-lawyer disputes team in Bangalore, in what sources describe as one of the largest lateral moves in the South India market this year. The team will be led by a partner who joined from a tier-1 competitor earlier this month.

Practice strategy

The expansion reflects Cyril Amarchand's continued investment in commercial litigation, particularly around technology disputes, white-collar matters, and arbitration. Bangalore has emerged as a key battleground as Indian firms compete for IP-heavy disputes work.

Market context

Lateral movement at senior levels has accelerated across the top 10 Indian firms this financial year. Compensation pressure and equity-track timelines remain the most common reasons cited by partners considering moves.
